Renovations
"Yes I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.
Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt,...
(You) shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice."
Jeremiah 31:3-4 (portions)
God's dealings with the Israelite people involved huge renovations. He would begin to build them up, making plans for them, and they would loose or forget all of them. This portion of Scripture in Jeremiah ensured the Israelites that his efforts and love were of the everlasting kind. As much as the Israelite people forgot or mishandled God's affection, His love endured. He promises a new future for the Israelite people in Jeremiah 31, in fact, He promises a brand new covenant! And those words were dancing words!
Holding true to His character, God consistantly renovates His people today. He has renovated my heart on many occassions. I am more like the Israelites than I'd like to admit. My patience is short lived and I can doubt the very things that God has spoken to me. My faith can sometimes wain when I don't SEE God working (is that faith at all?). I can ditch His promises for my own meager works. BUT...God is gracious, and despite my lack of focus He continues to renovate my soul for His good.
I can picture myself hard at work, hunched over my own plans, then I turn around and WALAH! God shows me His perfect and completed plan, more extravagant and exciting than I had ever dreamed. I am so thankful for this everlasting love...so thankful I could dance!
God, thank you for your vested time in redeeming the Israelite people. Thank you for your vested time in redeeming me. Your ways are beyond my understanding, but you prove your nature over and over again. You are God, my redeemer! You are God, my maker...and renovator. I rejoice in your steadfast love today! I will "go forth in the dances of those who rejoice."
Amen
