2010...new beginnings.

A new year brings new beginnings and this year, I've decided to try a blog. I'll use this mostly for my posts about what God teaches me through my devotions and through my kids. I'm sure photos of my real life will creep in every once in a while to share with you our blissfully average life.
And that title, by the way, has a meaning all it's own. I can attribute that to a man in our Sunday School class who, when addressing the outcome of raising kids, used the phrase, "blissfully average." That phrase gave me relief. I had always felt this underlying pressure to raise my kids to be the best...at everything they tried. Well, most of us have pretty average kids who might be the best at one thing, if the good Lord's chosen to bless them with skills. This idea, that raising kids to be blissfully average...happy with how they were created, gave me new purpose as a parent and child of God. I am now more aware of my (and my kids') contentedness instead of our unending quest for number 1. This blissfully average life is now my focus. To be blissful about who God created me to be gives me freedom to serve exactly how He wants me to serve..using my gifts and talents. Perhaps this is another reason why I began this online journal. One of my favorite things to do is to write...to journal more specifically. Who knows how publicized this journal will be. Maybe this will be private (by default), even so, I will write here because it's part of how I can enjoy my blissfully average life.
